Terrors of the Night

By Kathy Lynn

 .

While all the world is asleep,

I walk these quiet floors.

Listening to all the noises,

Behind the closed doors.

 .

Migraines torment me,

When I try to rest,

Throbbing in my head,

I feel I can’t last.

 .

They make me sick,

I can’t eat or drink.

 I can’t function very well,

For I am not able to think.

.
Throughout the long night,

I walk back and forth and think,

Of all the things that happened in my life,

That almost put me over the brink.

 .

There are demons waiting for me to fail,

They come in the night to torment me,

They know this is the best time,

They know where I will be.

 .

So sleep eludes me,

Afraid to close my eyes.

They are waiting on the inside,

With their thoughts they prey.

 .

I can see them on my eyelids,

Laughing at my pain.

They know that they have me,

For I have failed again.

Hi Kathy,

An excellent dark read.  This one gave me the goose bumps.  We all fell like this at times.  Very much enjoyed.
